Cheers to great health

last post for 2023 - back January 7th

We who are new, nameless, hard to understand; we premature births of an as yet unproved future - for a new end, we also need a new means, namely, a new health that is stronger, craftier, tougher, bolder, and more cheerful than any previous health.

At the end of 2023 I remain convinced that Nietzsche’s philosophy offers something fresh and challenging. In hundreds of Instagram posts and all of these weekly provocations I continue to come across people who find this work - the work of exploring and explaining his philosophy - illuminating, challenging and helpful.

In the quote above, he talks about what is needed if we carry on down the path that he lays our for us. To do it well, he says, we will need a new kind of health. This is because what Nietzsche offers us is dangerous - a dangerous kind of freedom.
