in time
Last week I wrote about the goddess Kali in the Tantrik tradition of Kashmir. Or, at least, my understanding of what she represents. I described four versions of Kali, each representing a different aspect of time as it passes.
These are the four aspects: at first, arising. Then, maintaining. And finally, dissolving. The fourth happens when you put them all together, a kind of integration of the three elements. And so these are the four aspects of a moment in time.
But there are many more Kalis in this tradition. At least eight more.
So how do we get from 4 Kalis - the moment of time as it passes - to 12?
