There’s something about making and experiencing music that seems deeply relevant to being human. I’m definitely one of those people who simply cannot do without it.

My tastes are pretty broad, from classical to pop to death metal. At the end of each year I create for myself 3 playlists, each with 13 songs on it. They are created with one criterion. These are the songs that gave me that feeling.

These are my end-of-year playlists. One of them is exclusively metal. Another is every other genre that I’ve listened to during the year. And final one combines these two into a record of the most exquisite musical experiences that I have experienced that calendar year.

This year I thought I’d share my “2024 Final 13” here, with a little reflection for each song.

Ursine Vulpine

Megamusic by one of the best soundtrack/film/tv composers out there… so many meditative moments with this on full blast…
